Breakfast From My Food Storage
Instant Oatmeal Packets
To make individual instant packets: (use ziplock sandwich bags)
Blend 1/3 cup of oats until powdery.
Into each of the 10 packets combine the following ingredients:
¼ Cup Oats
2 Tbs. Powdered oats
¼ tsp Salt
1 tsp. Sugar (optional)
To serve: Empty packet into a bowl. Add ¾ cup boiling water; stir and let stand for 2 minutes. For thicker oatmeal, use less water; for thinner, use more water.
Apple-Cinnamon Oatmeal
To each packet add 1 Tbs. Sugar, ¼ tsp cinnamon, and 2 Tbs. Chopped dried apples.
Sweetened Oatmeal
To each packet add 1 Tbs Sugar.
Cinnamon-Spice Oatmeal
In each packet add 1 Tbs sugar, ¼ tsp. Cinnamon, and a scant 1/8 tsp. Nutmeg.
Oatmeal with Raisins and Brown Sugar
To each packet add 1 Tbs. Packed Brown Sugar and 1 Tbs. Raisins.
Wheat Germ Oatmeal
To each packet add 2 Tbs any kind of Wheat Germ.
Granola (Makes about 2 quarts)
6 cups rolled Oats
¼ cup Sunflower Seeds
1/3 cup Brown Sugar
½ cup Raisins
1-cup Coconut (optional)
1 cup Chopped Nuts (optional)
1/3-cup Sesame Seeds (optional)
Mix all ingredients except raisins. Stir in and coat thoroughly with
1/3 cup Oil
1/3 cup Honey
2 tsp Vanilla
Spread on cookie sheet and bake at 350’ for 30 minutes. Stir often and the last five minutes add 1-cup raisins or other dried fruit.
